Week 4 News aggregators

I signed up for the Google aggregator because I already have a Google account that I check daily. I can see many great potential uses for RSS feeds and I'm sure my faculty and students would use them often. Unfortunately I doubt that most would pass our fire wall, but I could suggest websites that would help them understand the potential of RSS. One interesting site is http://libraryblogs.suprglu.com/

Week 4 RSS and Newsreaders

I have been using the RSS feeds in the databases that I get from Cengage (the old Gale Group) and they work great! The RSS feeds are imbedded on the results page and all you have to do is click, enter the search terms you want informed about and choose how often you want updates. I monitor for articles and news items on topics that students often have trouble researching. I just added one for "school uniforms" (a popular research topic, but one that has not had a lot of press lately) to my RSS feed from Opposing Viewpoints.

#5 Week 3 - Flickr

WOW! I've been playing with Flickr all morning and I created a small set entitled "Where is it?" If you want to check it out and see if you know, feel free to click red X - that should connect you to my flickr set. If you can't figure out where the pix are from click details for hints or click map - I geotagged the pictures.
